Sir Walter Scott and Bowhill have a close connection.  Not only did he base the Lay of the Last Minstrel at the estate, he was also a close friend and kinsmen of the Duke of Buccleuch.

Tours are available Friday to Monday from 30^th July to the end of August. They run at 12 noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm and also include access to the grounds and front gardens.  Tours are for small groups only – a maximum of 6 people from 3 households. 

Tours cost £36 (to include 3 people), with up to 3 additional visitors at £12 each.
