Festival of Reading

Reading: what does it mean to you? Is it a solitary escapism, your nose between real or ‘e-book’ pages? Do you enjoy listening to a good book spoken aloud, audio-books that are traditional storytelling for the twenty-first century?

The Library of Innerpeffray has been championing reading since 1680 and in September will be celebrating words in the library’s inaugural Festival of Reading.

As 2021 marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Sir Walter Scott, known as the ‘father of historical fiction’, the theme for this year’s event is the past on the page, with and exhibition and workshops, talks, family activities and library tours

For four days the historic site by the river will be alive with words in every format, from comic-strip to literary classics, poetry, prose and a pop-up café!.
