Flodden

Scott's poem, Marmion: A Tale of Flodden Field, published in 1808, concludes with the story of one of the greatest disasters in Scottish history, the Battle of Flodden (1513).

Questioned whether such a disastrous event for Scotland should be recorded in verse, Scott replied, “all was lost, but our honour”.
