Inchmahome Priory

Inchmahome Prior is a monastic sanctuary situated on the largest of three islands in the centre of Lake of Menteith (close to Aberfoyle, Scotland). Long after monastic life ended, Sir Walter Scott revived the island’s popularity in his romantic novel, A Legend of Montrose (1819).

Visitors can explore the idyllic wooded island where Robert the Bruce sought solace and the young Mary, Queen of Scots found sanctuary.
